Customary Fishing Rights
Notification of Nomination (Second Publication)

Pursuant to regulation 5 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998 the Hauraki Maori Trust Board, as representative of Hauraki Whanui Tangata Whenua of the coastline and ocean waters from Te Uretara Stream to Takatu Point, have notified the Minister of Fisheries that:

• Twenty six (26) separate rohe moana/marine areas (see table below) will be established within the above overall area:

• Thirteen (13) kaitiaki positions will be established for the purposes of managing nga kohikohinga kai a nga tupuna within the rohe moana/marine areas.

Submissions in response to this notification are invited from authorised representatives of:

• Tangata Whenua of Hauraki Whanui; or

• The Hauraki Maori Trust Board; or

• Any other whanau, hapu, iwi, tribal trust board, runanga or other organisation claiming manawhenua manamoana over any part of the area described above,

A map of the 26 proposed rohe moana/marine area(s) is available on request by contacting the Auckland office of the Ministry of Fisheries on 0800 626 313.

Submissions must be received by Monday 9 April and should be addressed to:

Any submissions received will be subject to regulation 7(3) of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998 and therefore may be made publicly available.

For the purpose of this notification the following terms have been provided by the Hauraki Maori Trust Board. as the appropriate local dialect words for the area:
